Our NeeNee.
And the owl said “Denise, it’s time to come home.”
Denise Annette Badgley (nee Watson) left us on December 5, 2021. Born in London on August 25, 1953, Denise spent most of her childhood in Chatham, later finding much happiness in Calgary. She is welcomed by her mother Helen Austin (Edwards) and father Bob Watson, sister Kathy Moore (Miller), twin brother Dennis Watson, younger brother Rick Dewar and other family members and close friends.
Her bright and giving spirit will be missed by her soulmate James (JB) Badgley, who she was fortunate to marry and spend over 47 years with. It was an epic love story, filled with happiness, laughter and their wonderful son Michael. Besides JB, he was the light and love of her life. Together the three of them shared an idyllic life starting in Calgary and brought them to London, Ontario/La Salle. Holding Denise in their hearts and memories are her youngest siblings, Laurie, John and Brenda, several nieces, nephews, in laws and friends.
A culinary artist in her own right, Martha Stewart had nothing on NeeNee. Her ability to make gourmet meals out of nothing, resulted in rave reviews from all of those who were blessed to grace her table. She also cherished her loved ones and sending cards was her trademark.
Denise was the pioneer of DIY. Whether it be gardening or taking an ordinary house and turning it into a home worthy of architectural digest, she may have missed her calling. As many of you know, she worked at Canada Post in Management and retired in 2015 after 30 years.
She loved to entertain and would often be seen dancing to all of her favourite tunes. Music ran through her blood like red wine through a carafe. JB and her attended many live shows. Speaking of red wine, we always joked that she could take down a vineyard quicker than a Winter’s Frost.
Denise loved to travel and take in the culture to its fullest. Her recent travel to England, France and Scotland will always be a fond memory for JB.
Her kind soul – now in the celestial – was the synthesis of compassion that fortified the bonds of those she loved.
Donations to the London Food Bank would be appreciated by the family. Cremation and Celebrations, ARVA (519-963-4003) entrusted with arrangements.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.”
