Passed away on Wednesday, December 6 2023, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 73. Dearly missed by his loving wife Susan, his daughter Lisa Johnson (Justin) and cherished granddaughter Katelyn Andie. Michael is survived by his brother Stephen (Shirley) of St. Thomas, sisters Debbie Gallant of PEI and Fiona Cutway (Doug) of Harriston and brother-in-law Rod Waldick of Teeterville. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and many friends. Mike was predeceased by his father Lauritz Andersen, his mother M. Adeline (Parker) and his sister-in-law Mary Waldick.
Mike had a number of hobbies that brought him great joy. He was an avid motorcyclist for over 50 years and enjoyed cruising with his wife and friends. His Valkyrie was his pride and joy. And as all of his family and friends would attest to, he loved music, especially the Beatles. His collections were numerous, and he enjoyed playing bass guitar with his buddies. He was also an avid collector of music, books and the list goes on.
Per Mike’s wishes, there will be a private family interment at the St. Thomas Cemetery. The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
Mike’s family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of the seventh floor at University Hospital. Their care and compassion for Mike was above and beyond all expectations. Arrangements entrusted to Cremation and Celebrations, Arva. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, LHSF – Children’s Health Foundation (NICU) or to the charity of your choice.

Dear Susan and Lisa. I was terribly saddened to read of Mike’s passing. What a special, kind and wonderful man! I have so many memories of his kindness and thoughtfulness working together at Ivey/Spencer. I enjoyed his band so much! So many IEP functions where his band made it all so magic, special and memorable.
He was totally reliable. He would rearrange his runs to help meet deadlines or transport someone to/from the school. Always a smile. Always willing to help.
I am so glad that I had the pleasure to meet and know Mike. So very sorry for your family’s loss.
